I did this several years ago teaching myself to use Blender, my first 3D animation experience. Now I'm finally taking VFX classes at S.F Academy of Art University using Maya.
I miss Blender and still love what it does. Free no less!!!
I frequently, mistakenly try Blender hotkeys while using Maya.

VFX=Visual Effects
Blender is better because it is free.
Maya is better because the motion picture industry expects us to know how to use it to work, and it is constantly developed for that industry for use on multimillion dollar budgeted movies.
I never exausted Blenders capabilities when I was using it and I will always keep it on hand.
It even has motion tracking and a video editor. It's awesome.

- I have 2 questions. The first is what does VFX stand for, and the second is, is Maya really better then Blender? Because I heard that it is not.
