Roland Taylor Sculpting is one of the most powerful tools in the industry!

I've got to admit, I have little knowledge of the other tools used for sculpting, but surely, blender is beyond the rest. Why? It's free, fast, powerful, and hey, you can extend blender so much. Add nodes, etc, and suddenly you see just how powerful it can be. I'm learning just that these days. I'm using sculpt mode for everything, from rocks... to a sheet of paper floating in mid air (more on that later). I like it so much I'll try to do a video tutorial about it :D Continue

Microwave Just incase you guys didn't already know...

I've stopped using Blender3D (infact I stopped several months ago) I now use Maya 8.5 :D! It's REALLY good! The interface is fairly simple (way easier than Blender's) and I love messing around with the fur/grass etc.

I'm still pretty new to it (I can use the modelling tools fairly well, extrude, merge, cut etc.) but I haven't yet learned about materials or rigging/animation.

:) Maya is fuuuuuuunnnnn!

Also this part should probably go on GameFabric but I thought I migh… Continue

Roland Taylor New project: Hipposuchus, the mighty Water Croc...

I haven't been bloggin much recently, but this one deserves it... To add to my repetoire...

Hipposuchus:

The new idea is Hipposuchus (water croc) and it's going to be the production of an idea I've had for years. At 15 meters, it would resemble a gharial, while dwarfing even salties, in real life... It's going to look more or less agile, being built for speed more than strength, and finally, it will make us of Sculpt mode and any other kule tricks I can find

I'm back in full swing now, and I've got lots to add...
Oh, I also have a new network on the way, as well as improvements for all of my current ones... so be on the lookout %-)

You might remember my car from the gallery, and from maybe me mentioning it, and I'm getting to work on it again. It's actually for a game I am planning. It will most likely be open source, but the name is still in dispute... Continue

Roland Taylor FFMpeg

Yes! It works! Or does it???

Two renders, 300 frames, and nothing. Why?

FFMpeg. A bit tricky already, but it seems to only like mp4 on my system...

Apparently this is the reason why my video turned out black...

The main characters will range from cubes, to complex humanoids, and the main theme will be a mars alliance setting...

Roland Taylor One small wish.

When adding wind and such features to blender, one occasionally wants more control. What's my wish? That in 2.5 (or even my predicted 2.45!), we could set key frame values for wind strength, and determine whether the transistion is smooth, or linear (sudden).

Or we could make a custom build for this purpose. But that's justa thought.

In addition to starting and maintaining several sites on this platform, I am now writing a book, and an IM application. Yet in all of this, I will be adding two Blendorials to the forum (blender tutorials)...

One is about lighting (Basics), while the other is about using blender's softbody simulation capabilities to create a simple waving flag...

For some reason the BIOS (or whatever) set itself to default, it messed with something which made my motherboard not be able to see my harddrive which made it so i couldn't actually boot up my computer.

Well, now that that is all fixed (or seems to be) I can continue work on the crap i thought i had lost :D
