The Basics, The Advanced Concepts and Everything In Between. Questions.

Okay! I have some serious questions which Roland has been helping me out with but I would like to ask others as well so its not so much wait on one shoulder.
1) Does anyone know what the words Avail and Needed and Layer mean exactly in terms of animation when you press i to keyframe a part in the animation.

2) How do you make a color on your object (an airplane main console window in this case) transparent?
3) How do you sculpt?

4) Sometimes when I select an object the cursor that allows you to move it is way over to the side making it harder, how do I reposition the active point?

5) This one is kindove a big one, how do you make your pictures look photorealistic? In my newest ship it looks okay but..... no where near as real as.... this one for instance - http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=87334&highligh...
Its the ship that has a silver body and a blue window - 2nd post from the top)

6) haha, I just want my ships to look as real as that one, does anyone have any suggestions for how to decide what your going to design before you design it. The above ship looks futuristic, but more importantly it looks like it can fly, I want to know how you would design that on paper because I'm not very good at drawing so It woud be very difficult to think of something like that for me but thats exactly the type of thing i would like to "blend" in the future.

For any assistance you are willing to give me I would like to give a very big THANKS. I know that there are a lot of questions and some of them are big ones but I'm having trouble finding some of them on the tutorials, especially the specifics. Thanks In Advance!!!!!!!

This made me want to make a Tutorial, so I'm doing exactly that. Funnily enough i realised i still hadn't installed MS Word on my computer since the hard drive switch (ages ago that was) so I downloaded a free word Processor :) (OPEN SOURCE :D:D:D:D)

I should have these questions (even if they are answered before i release my tut) answered in it.

Sweet - Thanks a billion Microwave, lol you guys are gonna hate me, I just thought of more...

7) When I am creating an animation with my ships, and they have multiple parts - say one for the body, 1 for the engine, and 1 for weapons, everything goes out of whack when I move them together. The engine will go flying away from the main body and then gradually come back - it makes it look like a fluid or something.

Did you parent the objects? Don't! Just select all (then unselect the camera (with border select

Then animate...

Okay, just to let you guys know I'm not COMPLETLY lazy and I HAVE been looking for this stuff myself. I found out the answer to number 4 - I'm busy watching Greybeards tutorials which have the video and speech so its very easy to learn since there isn't any reading 300 pages of information, making it easy on the eyes. Does anyone want the link to all of his videos or are all of you good?

By the way! If anyone has the time or is thinking of creating more tutorials, the video with speech is the best way to go!!!!! It makes it easy to understand, you have visual reference making it faster, and you don't have to look at TONS of information. You guys should try it!

Okay, skip the you don't have to look at tons of information - I just watched a 45 minute video about dupliframing and Path Curves for objects.... I hope I'm a master now LOL that was the most boring video I've ever seen (But its still not as boring as reading 300 pages ;) )

Heh, my tutorial is gonna be boring as hell. I'm up to the 4th page and i'm still writing about the interface.... :D

LOL, no problem Micro, that's what it's all about; keep it simple, but try to be in depth...

LOL, thats gonna be a tougher one to read but as long as it helps ;).

Trust me, take reading tutorials step by step, and it can be very great...
I'll see what I can do with videos. Since I have the software/hardware (I record at church already) it should not be too tough...
