The New Contest Ideas!

Hello Blendimation Members!

Now is time to start pouring in ideas for the next 2 (or more) contests.

Yes, I said two!!! I might even run more... hmmm...

The first one will be (as mentioned in the forum) for Independence day in my country. That one is set in stone, and details will very soon be up.

The second one however, will have the theme miscellaneous (may change in future).
Also, it will be open to ALL 3D programs. The main idea here, will be the use of special features. In this one, as suggested by Steven (hey bud!) the contest will have two categories, video, and still.

Some features I will look for:
  1. Use of SSS (Sub-surface scattering); If you're renderer doesn't have it, grab one that does, like Blender : Render
  2. Use of materials (multiple materials) and UV mapping (rendered of course)
  3. Use of fine detail. (I will pick judges for this)
  4. Use of Boolean functions (optional)

In the video category:
  1. Proper rigging, and possibly a walk cycle
  2. Multiple yet odd limbs, or a single limb; Both accomplishing an unusual form of locomotion

In both categories, I'll be looking for:
  1. Proper use of lighting
  2. Interesting lighting effects
  3. Use of built in pre/post-processing
  4. Use of lens flares (Halos)
  5. More to come!

Prizes.
For prizes, I am working on something. I really want to give you something back for your hard work, even if it's something immaterial, like a piece of software. This is one of the areas where your assistance is so much needed.

That's it!
Remember that you can also suggest your own contest and/or category in the forum, or by sending me an email rolandixor@hotmail.com (non-members can also do this).
Have fun!!!

to be honest.. I don't remember what I did on the material with this particular render. It could be some chrome from some library, or just the basic material with reflection in a light blue 'world' I used this gun so often... www.myspace.com/3201...

I've got to admit, I have little knowledge of the other tools used for sculpting, but surely, blender is beyond the rest. Why? It's free, fast, powerful, and hey, you can extend blender so much. Add nodes, etc, and suddenly you see just how powerf...
